Position Summary
The Digital Innovation and Library Systems Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing and integrating Digital Innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI) tools as well as being is a vital member of the Global Library Technology & Support Team. This position will impact the reputation of the RMIT library across campuses around the world. A successful candidate will ensure that new and innovative technologies including (but not limited to) AI are not only supported but also purposefully aligned to deliver a seamless experience for library users across the system. Additionally, the position will provide expert advice and guidance on integrating two ExLibris Library Management Systems (one in Melbourne and one in Vietnam) with other enterprise systems and support staff development and training needs related to these systems for users in Vietnam and other locations as needed. The focus will be on driving innovative digital service initiatives, including library-focused AI tools, and ensuring their successful development and support. This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Library Services—Vietnam, and will have a dotted-line relationship with a counterpart in Melbourne.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY
- Digital Innovation Leadership:
- Spearhead the provision of digital and innovative technologies such as AI with a focus on digital collections, and services.
- Collaborate extensively with a wide range of Library and University stakeholders to drive innovation that lead to seamless integration of library services across the university.
- Stay informed about emerging AI and other technologies and trends with a library-focus to ensure the library remains relevant and aligned with the University’s goals.
- Team Capability Building:
- Develop and enhance the capabilities of the global library technology team as well as library teams in Vietnam.
- Support the maintenance of library discovery technologies and overall systems.
- Drive the development of new digital initiatives with an AI focus.
- Implement best practice solutions to achieve strategic objectives in an innovative, collaborative, and agile environment.
- Strategic Landscape Assessment:
- Take a strategic view of the external landscape related to Library Systems, discovery platforms, emerging technologies, and metadata.
- Ensure alignment with the library’s mission and the University’s overall vision.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on a local, regional, and international level via direct communication with universities, vendors, library associations, and technology leaders at levels.
- Deliver excellent outcomes for library users through cooperative efforts with all stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships to foster successful partnerships across sectors—including education and the library industry.
- Work with cross-functional teams to enhance overall library services utilizing the latest AI (and other) tools with a library-focus.
- Project Management Excellence:
- Demonstrate strong project management skills, ensuring successful and timely delivery of outcomes.
- Coordinate, oversee, and take responsibility for an integrated approach to merging the Exlibris library management systems and its components between RMIT locations.
- Ensure effective services and buy-in from users through well-executed projects and training sessions.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project management dealing with merging two Library Systems (ExLibris systems experience preferred), with successful and timely outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and adapt to changing technological landscapes that incorporate AI tools—preferably within a library environment.
- Proven record of a commitment to continual improvement and strong problem-solving skills.
- Passion for digital innovation and enhancing library services maximizing Library Systems and AI tools.
- Strong IT support skills and familiarity with Library Systems, ExLibris experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to influence strategic thinking, foster innovation, and effectively manage workplace changes due to new AI-based Innovations and tools.
- Relationship-building skills and stakeholder management experience.
- Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values.

Work Permit
All foreign employees must adhere to the requirements for obtaining a valid visa and work permit in Vietnam. These requirements are mandated by the Government and may be over and above the mandatory requirements and key selection criteria. Work permit requirements are subject to change. RMIT Vietnam accepts zero tolerance to non-adherence of the immigration laws of Vietnam.
English Proficiency
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.0 (General) with a score of at least 6.0 or 170 in Lingua Skills.
