The opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability APAC, Bupa’s Senior Manager Sustainable Healthcare(Part Time 0.8FTE) is responsible for developing and deploying strategies, programs and activities that support enviro-socio change and contribute to Bupa APAC’s wider ESG agenda.
Working in collaboration with Bupa Group - including regional and global Clinical and Sustainability teams, and our healthcare provision and funding businesses - the Senior Manager Sustainable Healthcare APAC will be responsible for designing and delivering a strategic and impactful program explicitly focussed on reducing healthcare environmental sustainability impact at Bupa APAC (and ensuring these efforts are integrated and harmonising with pre-existing sustainability plans e.g. sustainable building management and renewable electricity use).
Across Bupa Group, the Sustainable Healthcare priority focus areas are (i) third-party healthcare provider emissions reduction (ii) patient-travel reduction (iii) clinical waste reduction and (iv) anaesthetic gas reduction.
How will I help?
- Reporting to the Head of Sustainability APAC in the Bupa APAC ESG team, and coordinating with the Australian, New Zealand and Hong Kong sustainability leads and clinical/operational leads across the business, lead (including design and delivery) a cohesive Sustainable Healthcare plan targeted at customer, responsible business and community
- Work with and across Bupa APAC business units to accelerate the transition to Sustainable Healthcare in line with existing Group and Bupa APAC priorities
- Identify, scope and executive opportunities that will contribute to successful achievement of Sustainable Healthcare targets in areas such as waste and emissions
- Head a program of activities and Sustainable Healthcare improvement projects aimed at reducing the environmental sustainability impact of healthcare (including design, delivery and progress reporting)
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share learnings, best practice and overcome system-wide barriers to Sustainable Healthcare
- Establish and lead internal and external Sustainable Healthcare networks that facilitate sharing of best practice and clinical review of sustainability initiatives

What do I need?
- Tertiary qualifications or post tertiary study in a discipline related to sustainability and/or health
- Experience in a sustainability role within a healthcare environment is preferable
- Experience working in the healthcare sector, with a strong understanding of healthcare landscape across APAC
- Demonstrable experience in the design and deployment of sustainability strategies and programs that deliver quality healthcare outcomes that support a healthy planet
- Experience leading multiple projects across diverse range of teams and being able to demonstrate their impact
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement experience, working with diverse and complex stakeholders
- Charismatic thought leader, comfortable representing organisations externally
- Experience working with complex datasets and using data-driven insights to guide activity
- Strong understanding of relationship between people and planet health
- Specific subject matter knowledge in areas relating to health and the environment, including the environmental impacts of healthcare and health impacts of climate change
