Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia and one of the most significant infrastructure projects in the world.
About the opportunity
Join our team as a Senior Marketing Advisor where your focus will be on identifying and executing strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing awareness and gathering support for Inland Rail. You will play a vital role in developing and implementing marketing activities aligned with both program wide and regional objectives. This position integrates with the broader efforts of the Inland Rail Communications, Marketing and Media team.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Identify and execute a range of bespoke marketing opportunities to help increase the visibility and credibility of the Inland Rail Program, and its people, as it continues to gain momentum.
- Manage an existing program of 25-30 high-profile speaking engagements per annum at both C-Suite and project level.
- Foster relationships with the event managers of targeted industry events/conferences.
- Review industry invitations to participate in speaking events, determine alignment with marketing strategy and manage the declining of invitations, where appropriate.
- Prepare high-quality presentation material, biographies, talking points and supporting marketing collateral.
- From concept to contract negotiation to execution, manage Inland Rail's presence at up to four key Australian industry conferences each year.
- Manage all event logistics including sourcing/engaging booth build company and in-house booth design.
- Facilitate IR representatives to positively engage with conference participants, prepare key talking points and manage follow-up communication.
About You
The successful incumbent is someone who will be a strategic thinker, creative, organised, resilient, and a strong communicator to drive impactful marketing initiatives that contribute to the overall success of this program.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or proven experience in corporate communication or marketing roles.
- Proven skills in the delivery of high-quality speaking engagements and events in a technical environment.
- Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and respond to and manage changing priorities and sensitive issues.
- A positive attitude with a high level of self-motivation and ability to work using your initiative.
- Excellent event management skills including demonstrated ability to plan and deliver against an agreed plan.
- Excellent negotiation, facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional self-organisation and administration skills.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills
- Exceptional writing skills, particularly copywriting and proofreading.
