This is a recruitment pool for Fixed-Term Part Time and Casual appointments with the possibility of extension/s. Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 01/07/2025.

Area Profile

The Women and Newborn Health Service provides clinical care to women and families. It comprises King Edward Memorial Hospital, the Maternity Unit at Osborne Park Hospital and other specialist health services. The Women and Newborn Services at Osborne Park Hospital merged with WNHS in 2020. The new service became part of the overall Women and Newborn Health Service. The merging of the two services created a synergy for women’s healthcare options, encouraging greater opportunity for cross-site communication and collaboration. The new service is an additional pregnancy care option for women, all governed by WNHS.

The Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) is a free service located in Perth providing crisis services to people who have experienced a recent sexual assault (rape) in the last two weeks and counselling for sexual assault / abuse experienced recently or in the past. Services are available for people of all sexualities and gender identities aged 13 years and above.

About this role

The Senior Medial Practitioner provides a high-quality medical and forensic service, using evidence-based practice, working within a multidisciplinary team and without clinical supervision. At SARC, your responsibilities will include providing appropriate medical and forensic advice and care to people of all genders, aged 13 years and above following recent sexual assault in Western Australia, preparing medico-legal reports for use in the Western Australian legal system, providing expert evidence regarding physical injury and sexual assault in court. You will also be ensuring patient safety by provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff and involvement in the operational and strategic processes of the service.

This role works within the scope of clinical practice as defined by the Health Service Credentialing Committee.

What we are looking for

We are seeking Senior Medical Practitioners, eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia, and with demonstrated evidence of clinical practice in an area relevant to Clinical Forensic Medicine and/or the provision of medical forensic services.
