Salary Level HEW 8 ($106,690 - $120,153 p.a.) + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

About the Role
The RMIT Aviation Academy is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution and compliance of high-value initial flight training contracts. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, comprehensive understanding of contractual obligations, and exceptional communication skills to navigate the complexities of training contracts and agreements within a higher-education setting. The Contract Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including faculty members, research teams, administrative staff, government agencies, and external partners, to facilitate the seamless implementation and operationalisation of the contracts while upholding ethical and regulatory standards and exceptional service delivery.
To be successful in this position, you will meet the following Key Selection Criteria:
Proven track record in managing complex Defence or Government contracts, overseeing the entire contract lifecycle.
Strong understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks for Defence or Government contracts, with the ability to interpret and apply complex terms and conditions.
Excellent communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders, including university teams, government agencies, and industry partners, building and maintaining relationships.
Experience in ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and ethical standards, including implementing conflict of interest policies and protecting intellectual property rights.
Proficiency in budget development, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting, collaborating with finance teams for accurate budgeting and cost control.
Strong problem-solving abilities to address contract-related issues, make sound decisions under pressure, and manage risks effectively.
Ability to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in contract management workflows, adapting to changing requirements and priorities.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with strong organisational skills to prioritise tasks and allocate resources.
Capacity to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of teamwork, knowledge sharing, and mutual support to achieve common goals.
Qualifications:
Mandatory
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, contract management, law, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management, preferably within the Defence or Government industry.
Strong understanding of Defence or Government contracting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working With Children’s Check
Highly Desirable
Knowledge of the aviation and flight training industry and educational principles.
Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies, preferably experience using a Learning Management System such as CANVAS and extensive use of Microsoft Office 365 suite of products.
Experience with data analytics, or data analysis tools.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check. For this position Australian Citizenship will be required.
