About the role
Working within a small multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Forensic Mental Health Clinician will provide high level forensic clinical and risk assessments and formulation of client’s with complex Mental Health and other needs (offending), effective treatment of clients displaying symptoms of/or have a diagnosed mental illness that requires treatment, case management & expert consultation to Justice and other involved services.

The Senior Mental Health Clinician will be involved in the promotion and development of the local program within the post sentence residential facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivers high quality clinical service to clients including assessment, treatment and case management
  • Liaises with and provides high level consultation and advice to justice agencies, other healthcare professionals, and non-government organisations
  • Contributes to the formulation and documentation of risk assessment and management plans including strategies for community Corrections and advising services of the same.

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to Mental Health consumer recovery and incorporating consumer perspectives into service delivery
  • Possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate Board or Association as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrated clinical competence at a senior level, and extensive experience in the application of clinical skills in a variety of psychiatric settings including community settings.
  • Skills and experience in undertaking comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessment of people and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical Mental Health interventions.
