This is a major Defence project & the Wintel Engineer will work on the build and sustainment of an Australian Defence Force capability for hosting a software defined data centre.
Canberra Based Offices must be Onsite.

We are in search of an experienced Senior Microsoft Systems Administrator to join our Canberra office, providing both technical expertise and leadership within our Microsoft silo. This position is integral to our operations, offering the chance to work on critical systems for a Defence client and to guide our team towards continued success and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the support, configuration, and enhancement of various Microsoft platforms, with a strong focus on SharePoint, Dynamics, and related applications.
- Assume a leadership role, either as a technical lead or team lead, providing direction and mentorship to junior staff and driving team performance.
- Engage in on-call rotations, offering timely solutions to ensure continuous service delivery.
- Be a key participant in on-call rotations, addressing complex issues to maintain service continuity.
- Oversee and contribute to the strategic planning and execution of system maintenance, upgrades, and improvements.
- Foster a culture of excellence in documentation, ensuring all processes and configurations are meticulously recorded and maintained.
- Manage and coordinate application changes, including but not limited to routine changes, application patching and incident driven e-change requests.
Position Description:
- A substantial track record in managing Microsoft technologies, demonstrating both technical prowess and leadership capability.
- Adept at quickly learning and implementing new technologies, you're passionate about staying at the forefront of industry developments.
- Proven ability to tackle complex problems with innovative and effective solutions.
- A relevant advanced degree in IT or related field is highly regarded, as are professional certifications within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to lead by example and inspire a customer[1]focused approach within the team.
Desirable:
- Experience working within the Defence environment.
- Knowledge and skills in the design, implementation, and configuration of automation and orchestration technologies and services, for example Ansible, Git, Scripting.
Negative Vetting 2 (NV1) is required. Candidates with NV1 would be considered on the condition that they have completed and submitted a security pack (NV1 to NV2 upgrade) to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) prior to commencement.
