The Role:
We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of network architecture, protocols, and security measures. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining AUCloud’s network infrastructure. This key role involves:
Responsibilities:
- Configure and deploy network equipment in accordance with as-built documentation, architecture diagrams or business requirements.
- Assist customers in the design and development of solutions on the AUCloud IaaS platform.
- Provide high-quality technical support internally and to AUCloud customers.
- Liaise with vendor technical support to resolve or mitigate issues in software or hardware.
- Create reports based on service uptime, resource utilisation, security events, and other common key metrics.
- Meet or exceed all SLAs as they pertain to incidents or service requests.
- Upgrade or patch software as per internal policies and procedures.
- Actively identify areas where administrative or operational efficiencies can be gained.
- Monitor Network platforms to achieve performance, availability and cost effectiveness.
- Develop and mentor junior staff, to cultivate an inclusive, compliant and highly skilled tech team.
- Collaborate with other teams, offering guidance and support in building the Network and Network Security components.
Skills & Experience:
We're looking for candidates with:
- Extensive and proven experience with managing complex network infrastructure, common networking protocols, and applications at a Senior Level.
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and cabling physical networking infrastructure.
- Awareness of Industry certification frameworks such as ISO27001 or the Australian Government Information Security Manual and their application on networking infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to foster productive working relationships with colleagues, vendors, partners, and customers.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adjust to suit the audience.
- Knowledge of conceptual models like OSI or TCP/IP and their application in tasks such as troubleshooting and system design.
- Knowledge and experience with DevOps and familiarity with Agile and Waterfall practices.
- High degree of enthusiasm in the networking field and confidence to take the initiative on projects or incidents.
- Experience with CI/CD principles and tools.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Relevant Industry certifications with vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, VMWare, Redhat, Microsoft etc.
- Experience with cloud-based networking solutions.
Security:
This is a security assessed position. The successful candidate must hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance or higher.
Other:
The role may require national travel, overnight stays, and liaison with AUCloud’s partners and suppliers.
Ability to work various shifts including evening and weekend hours and to work on-call rotation.
