This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time and Casual appointments, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency for Fixed Term and Casual appointments.

We currently have a 12 months Fixed Term position available with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

We are also currently recruiting for casual Senior Occupational Therapists for Emergency Department (CCT), Medical Admissions Unit (MAU) and Cover via this recruitment pool.

About this role

This role is for skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapists to join the dynamic Emergency Department and Acute Medical Team. You will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients who present with a wide range of acute medical conditions and injuries. We have full-time or part-time positions. Ideally for this role you will;

  • Have strong assessment, clinical reasoning and discharge-planning skills in acute medicine;
  • Work collaboratively as part of a well-respected trans-disciplinary allied health team;
  • Have some experience in hand therapy; and
  • Be able to work flexibly as part of a team across 7 days including both standard and non-standard hours.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will provide occupational therapy expertise in the transdisciplinary team.

This role reports to the Coordinator Occupational Therapy.

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical services including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery, and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre and is the principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants.

  • A cover letter of no more than 3 pages, introducing yourself and addressing the criteria below (in line with the attached Job Description Form, available online at ):

  1. Your skills in delivering Occupational Therapy services in a hospital, and knowledge of services that support discharge planning. Let us know if you have experience in acute medicine, falls, cognition, back pain, aged care or hand therapy.
  2. Your ability to manage a busy caseload independently and flexibly and the time management skills you could bring to this role.
  3. How you have worked collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary or trans-disciplinary team. Identify something special that you bring to the team and how, as a team, you have overcome challenges.

Eligibility to Apply:

Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector.

To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract.

Other Conditions:

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 30/06/2025.
