About the role
The Senior Payroll Advisor provides a broad range of operational and administrative support to the Payroll teams to enable efficient and effective service delivery of the fortnightly payroll to employees. This role is responsible for consulting with key stakeholders, conducting accurate and timely administrative and coordination activities, providing support for projects and process improvement initiatives, leveraging sounds knowledge of business priorities to ensure payroll solutions are fit for purpose and support the delivery of business operations, and running the payroll, ensuring payments are made in accordance with legislative requirements and timeframes.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for: 

  • Providing the full range of payroll services including onboarding and offboarding of employees, updating changes to employee details, generation of the fortnightly payroll and reconciliation of payroll data on a fortnightly, monthly, and ad hoc basis,
  • Responding to and resolving complex enquiries and issues, escalating to other team members including escalating to other team members if required to ensure the provision of accurate information and advice to the business and the timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring work systems, procedures and methods, and coordinate and manage records and databases, adapting processes and techniques as required, to facilitate efficient payroll operations and streamlined processes and ensure data is stored correctly in line with agency and legislative standards, policies and procedures
  • Gathering and collate information for, and prepare documentation and reports on business unit performance, and make recommendations to improve efficiency, cost management and service delivery

Our ideal candidate will have the ability to manage competing priorities, a track record of delivering quality administrative outcomes and strong stakeholder management skills. You will also hold current knowledge of public sector payroll legislation, awards policies and processes.
