About You

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and engaging a team to deliver and perform at a high standard
  • Extensive experience gained in a complex environment with multiple employing entities.
  • Specialist skill in the interpretation of industrial instruments to ensure payroll systems and processes are compliant and support the business to meet its obligations
  • Ability and experience in project management and project activities, in particular process and system improvements and integrations
  • Deep knowledge of governance and compliance requirements and management of such, alongside a continual focus on and implementation of changes to legislation.
  • Proactive and confident specialist, able to advise and inform those in the business, HR, Finance and leadership effectively on all payroll matters.
  • Proficient and confident in the use of systems including, Payglobal / MYOB (ideally) Time and attendance solutions, Microsoft products in particular Excel
  • Prior experience utilizing and ideally implementing rostering and time and attendance systems
  • Ability to work effectively with external consultants to seek and implement appropriate advice

About The Role

As the Senior Payroll Manager, with support of the 2IC, you will manage and oversee the processing of Journey Beyond’s

pay cycle as well as be responsible for a number of payroll related improvement projects.

Be part of the company’s growth & expansion, by providing a solid compliance foundation, enabled through improvements in systems, processes and people related activities.

Current Payroll Projects include:

  • Payroll Controls Project across HR, Payroll and Finance, to ensure compliance across a number of industrial instruments including EA’s, Awards and individual contract and standardize and simplify current organisational practices.
  • Support roster/ Time and Attendance system implementation project as the payroll subject matter expert
  • Review our suite of staff benefits, considering improvements that can be enabled through our payroll function e.g. Packaging options, leave purchasing etc

Overall, this key role will lead the step change ensuring payroll processes and systems are optimized to improve compliance, reporting and our people’s experience. In this way, ensuring the payroll function delivers a customer centric service

Ensure our circa 1500 employees are paid in line with their respective terms and conditions and meeting all legislative requirements including all statutory obligations such as FBT, Superannuation, ATO requirements and Workers Compensation as well as being across numerous awards, collective agreements and individually contracted employees and states.
