Centacare FNQ and Catholic Early Learning and Care (CELC) are the social services agencies of the Catholic Diocese of Cairns providing services to Cairns and the Far North Queensland region.
Your role
As part of Shared Services and reporting to the People & Culture Manager, the Senior People & Culture Officer will play a vital role in enabling the organisation to build a diverse and skilled workforce, promote employee engagement, and drive performance through safe practices while ensuring ethical practices, compliance, and professional growth opportunities for all employees.
The Senior People & Culture Officer provides senior level advice and support on generalist HR, Industrial and Safety management functions, while playing a leadership role by supporting and developing the People & Culture team. Some of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead, influence and motivate colleagues and stakeholders to deliver effective and innovative people services to meet operational delivery.
- Develop, implement and maintain HR and WHS frameworks and databases, ensuring best practice and legislative compliance.
- Provide advice on industrial, employee relation and WHS frameworks to enable the provision of professional and compliant service delivery.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and team members to deliver practical, workable solutions tailored to specific people related needs, within specified timeframes.
- Research, investigate and prepare confidential reports and correspondence in relation to a broad range of complex and sensitive people related issues.
- Assist with the delivery of a range of people, health and safety programs, to enable a service that is responsive to the needs of our services.
Your skills and experience
- Experienced Senior HR generalist, with proven success in managing or assisting in the delivering of responsibilities as outlined above;
- Demonstrated experience delivering HR and WHS business support initiatives, including the development and ongoing maintenance of risk and WHS systems;
- Strong computer literacy, with demonstrated knowledge of HR Systems (ELMO highly desirable);
- Possession of highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication, negotiation and consultation skills;
- Demonstrated experience working in multi discipline and complex industrial work environments.
