About the Medicines and Technology Unit (MTU)

The Clinical Excellence Division is the focal point for clinical policy development, engagement with the clinical workforce and health research.

As a unit in the Clinical Excellence Division, the MTU provides governance frameworks to ensure safe and quality of care for patients involving medicines and health technology. Our team also supports clinical practice improvement programs which use data to review clinical variation and inform quality improvement projects.

Your new role

We are seeking enthusiastic and suitably experienced individuals for the role of Senior Pharmacist position.

In this role you will be responsible for operational management of the statewide medicines formulary, including supporting the activities of the WA Medicines Evaluation Panel, and related projects to ensure the quality use of medicines and therapies across the health system.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Utilising knowledge, skills and experience in therapeutic medicine use and undertake health technology assessments of medicines and therapeutics to support quality use of medicines for WA Health.
  • Provides secretariat and project support for the WA Drug Evaluation Panel and associated Expert Advisory Groups.
  • Plans, designs, organises, and supports medication management projects for implementation within the WA health system.
  • Manages the contract and maintenance of the electronic platform for the Statewide Medicines Formulary.
  • Engages with key stakeholders including Hospital Medicines and Therapeutics Committees, senior executives and health professionals across Health Service Providers.
  • Supports WA Health in projects and consultations aimed at addressing national safety and medication management initiatives.
  • Provides project and research support for other MTU programs of work.
