With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hour's drive from the CBD, Melbourne's North is fast becoming the place to be!The Department:The Pharmacy service operates over 5 sites within Northern Health and has a strong vision to deliver exceptional, evidenced-based care to our patients - with a clear focus on research, medication safety and clinical excellence. We are currently undergoing a large period of expansion and specialisation, creating exciting opportunities for individuals keen to challenge themselves and progress their professional knowledge and skills.The Role:Two permanent full-time opportunities exists to join the team at Northern Health. The roles will cover 80 hours per fortnight, Monday-Friday 0800-1700 with monthly Accrued Day Off and will co-lead together to manage the Emergency Department/Critical Care team consisting of a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.One Senior Pharmacist will oversee the ED/ICU portfolio whilst the other Senior Pharmacist will ED/Cardiology portfolio.Key responsibilities will includes:
- Regularly monitoring and assessingm edication management systems to enhance medication safety and clinical appropriateness
- Regularly monitoring drug use to provide a cost-efficient service
- Providing expert advice and where necessary implementing systems to meet Accreditation standards relating to NSQHS Standard 4 Medication Safety.
- Developing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators
- Managing staff and monitoring work performance to ensure a safe and timely care to consumers in the Emergency Department, ICU and Cardiology
- Monitoring the clinical and financial performance of the Medical clinical pharmacy team to ensure alignment with operational requirements.
- Providing expert advice to ensure quality of service standards are met and maintained.
- Liaising between required stakeholders across campuses to ensure consistency of quality services across Northern Health.
- Undertaking annual staff appraisal and assist staff development to ensure a culture which encourages innovation and continuous improvement and is in-line with Northern Health's procedures and values
- Managing the education needs of patients to improve knowledge and ensure adherence with required standards, regulations and Northern Health policy and procedure.
- Providing medicine related education to clinical staff to enhance knowledge, medication safety and quality use of medicines.
- Supervising interns, students, clinical pharmacy technicians and junior pharmacists.
- Providing a medication reconciliation and pharmaceutical review services in accordance with SHPA standards of practice, Northern Health procedures, Accreditation Standards and legislative requirements.
- Liaising with other health professionals to support optimum drug therapy. • Complying with Northern Heath Formulary and Standard Operating Procedures.
- A recognised degree in Pharmacy from an approved tertiary institution and hold full current AHPRA registration
- A minimum of 4 years' experience in hospital pharmacy
- Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) recognition at Registrar or Consultant level in relevant specialty practice area (eg. Research)
