Tell me more..The Senior Podiatrist will deliver a specialist clinical podiatry service to all clients in Weipa and various Cape York Communities with a particular focus on ‘high risk foot' problems. High risk foot problems are particularly relevant for clients with chronic disease, those diagnosed with amputations, foot ulcerations, peripheral neuropathy, peripheral vascular disease, gross foot deformities and biomechanical presentations. Delivering specialist clinical podiatry services inclusive of Health Promotion and preventative strategies to the wider community. On a day-to-day basis, manage podiatry issues and administration of resources, initiate quality improvement activities and improved clinical practice to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Demonstrated application of high-level knowledge, expertise and skill in generalist podiatry clinical practice, with experience treating high risk diabetic feet, and capacity to work within a Primary Health Care framework within a multi-cultural context.
• Demonstrated ability to provide advice to colleagues and senior management regarding clinical service standards, service development and business planning processes relevant to the delivery and development of podiatry services.
• Demonstrated ability to independently apply evidence-based principles in clinical decision-making to facilitate novel treatment solutions for complex podiatry problems, with limited discipline specific supervision and with an awareness of issues that impact on the complexity of service delivery in a cross cultural and remote area context.

• It is a mandatory condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) hepatitis B.
