Senior Power Bi Developer

Our client is a high profile government department that provides extensive legal and social services

The Senior PowerBI Developer will sit within corporate services and provide solutions and support to the CIO branch.

The CIO branch enables the activation of new technologies and support arrangements, supports digitisation of interactions with the community and other government agencies and embraces new and innovative opportunities

Role Description:

The Senior PowerBI Developer will essentially set up Power BI capability for the CIO branch

Working with a variety of datasets to produce Power BI reporting dashboards, including ServiceNow, Sharepoint, Microsoft Excel, HPE Content Manager and will liaise with technology branch of the ACT Government (Digital, Data and Technology Services - DDTS) to setup and establish the PowerBI reporting and Dashboard capabilities for the CIO Branch under limited direction

Responsibilities include:

• Establish the Power BI capability for the CIO Branch
• Provide specialist knowledge and advice on the use of PowerBI
• Develop and maintain performance monitoring and reporting systems and produce reports and graphs to provide insight into business performance, inform and support decision making and meet reporting requirements
• Consult with data source owners across the brach and supporting agencies
• Identify data reporting needs, requirements and develop solutions for the CIO Branch using PowerBI
• Assist in the conduct of data quality checks and data cleansing to ensure data accuracy and integrity
• Assist with development and maintenance of systems and processes to support the team and unit operations
• Upskill CIO staff to use and maintain the developed PowerBI reports and dashboards
• Provide business intelligence services
• Utilise expertise in data aggregation, reporting design and data analysis.
• Create complex data models to build interactive dashboards
• Deliver valuable insights to support critical decision making processes

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.
• Significant relevant work experience
• Proven knowledge and experience in providing high level PowerBI reports and dashboards, including automating reports
• Advanced experience in Power BI
• Proven experience in a similar role producing dashboards and reports
• Experience in Data Analysis and strong analytical skills
• Experience with SQL, Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and other data languages
• Demonstrable ability to analyse complex datasets to effectively create high level visualisations in Power BI
• Proficiency in troubleshooting issues within PowerBI reports and dashboards with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges to ensure the smooth functioning of data visualisation processes 
• Experience in working effectively with all stakeholders to achieve the required outcomes
