Senior Privacy and Right to Information Advisor
- Grade: Clerk Grade 7/8
- Salary range: $101,947 - $112,849 superannuation and leave loading
- Duration: Ongoing

On a day-to-day basis you will be part of a team of motivated privacy professionals that supports the Better Regulation Division (BRD) within the Department of Customer Service to understand their privacy obligations. This includes engaging and working with all parts of BRD and the multiple channels that our customers use.
This role will support the enhancement of privacy frameworks, tools, templates, and processes to achieve improved outcomes. You will contribute to driving strategic priorities and transformation across the agency to improve privacy and risk awareness, capability, and cultural uplift.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to or lead Privacy Impact Assessments for new products or projects
- Contribute to or conduct Privacy Internal Reviews
- Provide privacy advice to inform decision making and mitigate privacy risks
- Build and maintain strong relationships with other teams and areas
- Influence and negotiate for privacy outcomes amongst other competing priorities
- Maintain a focus on finding ways to solve problems - by finding a balance between preserving and ensuring privacy outcomes, and achieving customer and business outcomes
- Ensure that the privacy team's shared inbox is continuously monitored and requests for advice or support are allocated
- Assist with the management of operational aspects relating to the organisation's statutory responsibilities under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and Privacy and Health legislation, including making determinations on complex applications and undertaking internal reviews.
- Provides excellent customer service for external customers and internal officers to support the organisation's commitment to transparency and accountability in providing access to information
- Provides high level support to the business unit regarding records management, statistical data collation and continual process improvement regarding information management
- Prepare and maintain project documentation and source and collate information for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes to contribute to achievement of the legislative obligations
- Assist in the interpretation and application of relevant privacy legislation and work with business areas to develop policies, protocols and procedures.

- Ensuring the currency and accuracy of information and resources while managing and maintaining a high-volume workload and quality service delivery.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures whilst working to tight timeframes.
- Meeting stakeholders needs while ensuring firm understanding of what the customer wants versus what the legislation allows / states.
- Ensure the early identification and communication of emerging and potentially contentious issues.
- Possess outstanding organisational and time management skills.
