Senior Procurement Officer

Our client, Alice Springs Town Council, is seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to join their close nit team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to coordinate council-wide procurement activities, ensuring high standards of accountability and transparency in services.

What you'll do:
As a Senior Procurement Officer at Alice Springs Council, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating council-wide procurement activities. You will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement processes, managing sourcing initiatives, establishing strategic contracts, overseeing vendor setup, providing comprehensive advice on legislation and standards, working closely with the wider divisions to help streamline processes, providing training on compliant procurement practices, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Your work will directly impact the council's ability to deliver high-quality services to the community.

• Manage Council's procurement services and arrangements with direct report into the Chief Financial Officer.
• Develop, implement and coordinate procurement processes for Council wide purchasing and tendering.
• Coordinate value for money annual supply contracts and multi-year contracts for timely delivery of services.
• Oversee vendor setup to ensure integrity and probity of vendors for financial management systems.
• Provide comprehensive advice in accordance with applicable legislation and standards.
• Provide training and assistance to Council's business units to ensure compliant procurement practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes and policies.

  What you bring:
  The ideal candidate for the Senior Procurement Officer role brings a wealth of experience in procurement environments. You have a tertiary qualification in Finance or Procurement or a related field and have demonstrated tender management experience. Your high-level planning and time management skills enable you to effectively manage competing priorities and achieve objectives. You are adept at problem-solving, providing sound advice, and forecasting the consequences of proposed actions. Your excellent customer service and analytical consulting skills, coupled with your strong written and verbal communication abilities, make you a standout candidate for this role.

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Procurement or a related field.
• Extensive experience in a procurement environment including approaches to market for supply of goods and services.
• Proven tender management experience from quotation preparation through to contract award.
• High-level skill in planning, managing time and competing priorities to achieve objectives.
• Ability to analyse problems, provide sound advice, identify appropriate solutions, forecast consequences of proposed actions.
• Excellent customer service skills and analytical consulting skills.
• High level written and verbal communication skills.
