Job description

About Alogic

ALOGIC is a global fast-growing technology brand with a broad portfolio of B2C and B2B products, including monitors, docking stations, wireless chargers, power banks, cables and more since its foundation.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our manufacturing operations. We are seeking a talented Product Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to developing and producing our innovative product range. You will assist in product engineering research, design, construction, and maintenance of our product line. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your designs from conception to production, continually seeking efficiency and quality improvements.

As a key networker within our Design Team, you will maintain strong relationships with various departments to ensure the successful development and delivery of Product Design solutions. In addition to these responsibilities, you will research and pitch content ideas, develop commercially viable, creative, and consumer-focused Product Design solutions.

At ALOGIC, you’ll have the opportunity to be a key pillar in an agile organisation with minimal hierarchy. As such, this position is best suited to motivated self-starters who can effectively manage their own priorities and keen to contribute their own ideas to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage concurrent design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and commercial constraints.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and functional risks, considering constraints and opportunities.
  • Assist in conducting IP and patent searches as necessary.
  • Prioritise conflicting requirements to determine optimal design directions.
  • Engineer Product Design solutions with attention to design for manufacture (DFM) principles.
  • Lead design reviews and provide mentorship to junior designers.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure compliance with performance requirements.
  • Perform engineering calculations and material selections aligned with performance targets.
  • Review test reports on pre-production product samples.
  • Identify Product Design opportunities within existing and new market segments.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain feedback and quotations.
  • Maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and broader ALOGIC Team to identify Product Design opportunities in existing and new market segments.
  • Ensure products adhere to visual brand language and styling guidelines.
  • Foster a positive and harmonious work environment within the design team.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create content based on business requirements, growth strategy and focus.
  • Drive multiple, simultaneous projects, analyze performance metrics to shape and refine our content strategies, ensuring we’re not just part of the conversation, but leading it.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Design Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record with Product Designing.
  • Self-starter with strong organisational skills who can manage own workload and priorities to deliver content to tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of UI/UX development processes and tools for embedded software and mobile apps.
  • Proven track record in collaborating with electronics & firmware/software teams for consumer, industrial, or electronics products.
  • Confidence in dealing with technical subjects, including the ability to research technical topics in collaboration with our in-house product experts.
  • Strong skills in interpreting and translating high-level product requirements into actionable design tasks.
  • Proficiency in communicating design ideas through sketching, CAD modelling, and prototyping.
  • Ability to assist with prototype fabrication and testing.
  • Familiarity with risk analysis methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Thorough understanding and application of design and engineering principles.
  • Experience with DFM principles with the ability to apply these into practice when developing Product Design solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and openness to new ideas.
  • Proven ability to provide technical support and collaborate across departments.
  • Commitment to giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Benefits

• Work for a fast growing, innovative organisation

• Work in a close-knit, supportive team environment with a flat corporate structure.

• Get early access to the latest innovations in consumer technology.

• Convenient location in Southeast Melbourne Bayside Location.

• Free Friday lunches.
