Our client, an established and highly reputable home builder are seeking a Production Estimator/File Checker to join their team. The company have 2 parts to the business so this role will involve working across both project and custom homes. This is a unique role, along with working across production estimating, the successful candidate will also over see the checking of all files before BOQ's are raised to ensure everything is correct before the job goes to site. This role is available due to expansion and growth within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, critique, clarify and confirm accuracy of Tender inclusions and requirements by carrying out detailed File Checks which include the Tender and Consultant Documents, Architectural Plans and Colour Selection Documentation, checking to ensure all information is accurate, documentations match, errors are picked up and comments are sent to the appropriate departments to rectify prior to
- Validation of Contracts, Bill Of Quantity take-off commencement and Purchase Order issue.
- Making suggestions and providing solutions for any items that may not translate from paper once in construction.
- Be responsible to ensure any necessary corrections or changes, as a result of a File check, are corrected / completed by the responsible department, accurately corrected then published and follow through with CSO's to ensure approved by clients (if applicable).
- Measure and take of quantity and forecast cost off of standard and/or custom designs.
- Request and interpret quotations required Tenders, Variation Costs, Bills Of Quantities, and/or Purchase Orders as required.
- Forecast and establish job cost budgets prior construction commencement.
- Review forecast job budgets in reference to Validate Tender costs in consideration of forecast margins.
- Preparation and distribution of Purchase orders.
- Review, clarify and respond to vendor clarifications in reference to Construction or Buildability of designs etc as required.
- Review requests and if approved, prepare and issue of ETS (Extra to Schedule) purchase orders as required.
- When requested, assist with pricing for tenders plus variations as required.
- Contribute to continual improvement of existing systems, processes and software to enable streamline and accurate BOQ and costings moving forward.
- Provide quick turnaround of variation and cost requests to service Project Home colour studio and sales staff as applicable.
- Become proficient and have an excellent understanding of our estimating, workflow and file management plus sales software packages (Databuild, Onsite Companion, and Client Manager systems)
- Contribute to ensuring accuracy of prices based on supplier rates and approved margin schedules
- Assist, if required, with custom home design first principal bills of quantities, and as such selling prices produced, using Planswift and Databuild software to produce accurate costs and tendering.
- Assist, if required, with custom home design first principal bills of quantities, and as such selling prices produced, using plan swift and Databuild software to produce accurate bills of quantities and purchase orders.
- Assist, if required, with standard model bills of quantities to set selling prices as may be required.
- A minimum of 8 years experience working as a Production Estimator across both project and custom homes
- Excellent attention to detail is paramount
- A confident self starter who is highly motivated and can work as part of a team and autonomously
- Be highly proficient with Databuild and Planswift
