Senior Program Officer

Northern Territory PHN leads the development and coordination of an equitable, comprehensive primary health care system and an engaged health workforce driven by community needs.

Salary: $99 357 + Super

About the Opportunity

The Senior Program officer - Outreach will be responsible for developing and managing program activities within the Strategy, Commissioning and Planning Branch, in particular the Outreach Health Services Program (OHSP). Reporting to the Program leader, Senior Program officer - Outreach will support the management of several regional working groups and be responsible for driving outreach and workforce projects to achieve program outcomes.

NT PHN contracts a range of service providers and engages with a broad range of program stakeholders.

The mix of activities in the portfolio may change from time to time in response to community needs and program or funding changes.

  • This role is designated as Indigenous Identified as it is intended to constitute a special measure under s 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s 57 (1) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1992 (NT). Furthermore, under s 35 (1) (b) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1992 (NT), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Knowledge or training equivalent to a degree in business or health or other related field; and/or relevant, equivalent expertise and experience
  • Excellent engagement skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of internal and external clients, partners and stakeholders to co-design solutions, maximise outcomes, and ensure organisational coordination and efficiency in an environment requiring cultural sensitivity.
  • High-level organisational skills and a track-record of taking initiative and meeting timelines with limited supervision and with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong data-gathering and analytical skills, and the ability to produce and coordinate reporting and evaluation of health programs and initiatives.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including competency in Microsoft Office programs such as SharePoint and Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to unfamiliar systems and processes, with the proven ability to develop and implement processes, policy and procedure to support effective program management, contract compliance and deliverables.
  • Superior communication skills including written communication to provide high level and timely advice, build rapport, high-level reports and produce clear and effective documentation.
  • Knowledge of health issues and health services, including the delivery of primary health care services in rural and remote areas
