The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.
Project scope includes:
- Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
- Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
- Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway
In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project. As the Senior Project Engineer - Mechanical, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the mechanical aspects of the project from construction to completion on a range of packages including:
- Fire Suppression - Tunnel deluge systems and fire pump rooms
- Fire Detection
- Major steelwork packages
- Hydraulic systems
- Water Treatment
- Tunnel Ventilation Systems
You will be part of a closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution within established timelines and budgetary constraints.
Specific Tasks Include
- The ability to manage work and performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
- Lead and motivate the Engineers to meet or exceed all project targets and objectives.
- Monitor and report on project construction delivery costs and develop strategies and recommendations for recovery actions in the event of overruns.
- Ensure that the master project program is maintained up to date on a monthly basis.
- Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality (and other) management systems and project plans are adequate, up to date, implemented and adhered to.
- Prepare, manage, and track budgets and financial reports.
- Technical Documentation: Create and review project documentation, including Scopes of Work, registers, MDR's, ITP's, ITR, drawings, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering Mechanical packages for large infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing a team of Engineers.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Prior experience working in tunnels would be advantageous.
