About the Opportunity
As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will manage Regulatory Compliance for a diverse range of haircare and skincare products. Reporting to the Head of Quality, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet and exceed regulatory standards. This role would suit a self-starter, someone who has at least 5+ years of experience working in Regulatory Affairs within the cosmetic industry, has strong attention to detail, and ability to build strong relationships cross-functionally.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Strategy Development: Develop and execute regulatory strategies specific to the skincare and haircare industry, ensuring alignment with Australian, New Zealand, EU, and US regulations.
- Document Management: Oversee the creation, maintenance, and submission of comprehensive Product Information Files (PIF) for all relevant products, adhering to industry-specific requirements.
- Raw Material Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive regulatory documentation for all raw materials, including technical files, product dossiers, COA, MSDS, declarations, and composition information.
- Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for external and internal stakeholders.
- Regulatory Documentation: Manage the preparation and submission of regulatory documents to relevant authorities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to timelines.
- Organic Certification Management: Oversee Organic Certification as OFC (Organic Food Chain) for existing and new products.
- Technical Document Collation: Coordinate the collection and collation of technical documents, and testing reports, and prepare regulatory packs for submission to clients.
- Regulatory Compliance Monitoring: Monitor changes in skincare and haircare industry regulations, conduct safety assessments for existing products and processes, and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Project Development, and other teams to seamlessly integrate regulatory considerations into the product development life cycle.
- Reports: Generate reports on Regulatory Compliance status for senior management.
- Supporting staff through the provision of required training, advice, and the establishment of guidelines and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or regulatory field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in a Regulatory Compliance or specialist role, preferably in the cosmetics/pharmaceutical or FMCG industry
- Good understanding of REACH and regulations involved in the formulation of skincare and haircare products.
- Familiarity with international regulations related to the industry, such as REACH (EC) no 1907/2006, California Proposition 65, and CLP (Classification Labelling and Packaging).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to ensuring Regulatory Compliance.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of factory certifications, ISO QMS, environmental and social/ethical certifications.
