Ergon Energy Retail is part of the Energy Queensland group of companies, 100% owned by the state of Queensland. Ergon Energy Retail is our electricity retailer, responsible for selling electricity to customers throughout regional Queensland.

About your new role:

Working as the Senior Retail Reporting Analyst, you will apply advanced technical data analysis kills to prepare Retail reporting to support operational process, commercial analysis and compliance.

In your day, you’ll liaise with Retail stakeholders, as the primary point of contact to elicit reporting requirements for the design, build, test and publishing of Retail reports. You will provide subject matter expertise in data analysis and will be adept in data discovery, working in Database lakehouses such as Databricks to query Retail data to build reports.

You’ll be responsible for providing timely and accurate reporting as well as facilitate the automated data flow through the use of industry analysis tools/languages including (but not limited to) SQL, Python, DAX, API’s, VBA and Windows Scripting.

In your role, proactive identification and escalation of operational, commercial and compliance risks, based on the Retail data sets, will be crucial to ensure potential impacts to Retail are effectively managed.

The position has been evaluated as Professional & Managerial Grade Two (PM2). The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About you:

You’re a professional with tertiary qualifications in Business and/or Information Technology. Alternatively, you hold the equivalent demonstrated skills and experience relevant to the responsibilities of role.

You have demonstrated experience in working with complex data sets, extracting, parsing, and visualising key insights for all levels of management using PowerBI/Tableau or similar, with advanced capabilities in SQL, DAX, Python, or similar.

You’ll leverage your technical expertise in data analysis, data models, and forecasts to ensure relevant reports are built, produced, and maintained to a high standard.

You’ve highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to prepare and present data insights to all levels of an organisation, including an ability to understand business needs and translate them into effective reporting briefs.

Ideally, you have knowledge of the Retail and National Electricity Market related systems, data, and processes or knowledge of adjacent Utilities.
