About the opportunityThe at the University of Sydney is seeking applications from exceptional candidates for a Senior Research Fellow/Associate Professor (Research Focused) in Child Psychology (Level C/D) to join the leadership team in Clinical Child Psychology and Mental Health in the School. The School hosts the Child Behaviour Research Clinic (CBRC), an internationally-renowned research, training and treatment centre for early onset behavioural, emotional and developmental problems in children and their families, and Growing Minds Australia (GMA), Australia's first clinical trials network in child and youth mental health.The candidate will be expected to contribute at a high level to the ongoing development of research excellence and implementation of evidence-based approaches to child and youth mental health in the School, the CBRC and GMA, the University, and within child health systems more generally.Your key responsibilities will be to:
  • contribute to leadership of Growing Minds Australia (GMA) and the Child Behaviour Research Clinic (CBRC) in the School of Psychology, University of Sydney
  • develop a program of high quality research in clinical child psychology aligned with the strategic goals of the School, GMA, and the CBRC
  • obtain research funding from NHMRC/MRFF and other sources to support research in clinical child psychology
  • successfully engage partners and stakeholders across community, industry, and government to increase understanding of and funding for child and youth mental health
  • attract and supervise PhD and other research students in clinical child psychology
  • undertake some specialized teaching in clinical child psychology
  • contribute to governance, leadership and engagement in the School, Faculty, and University.

  • a PhD in Psychology with expertise in clinical child psychology and mental health; Postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (or international equivalent)
  • a registration as a psychologist with an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in clinical psychology, or eligibility for registration with an AoPE in clinical psychology
  • an approved supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) or eligibility to undertake PsyBA approved supervisor training
  • a strong track record of peer reviewed publications in clinical child psychology relative to opportunity
  • demonstrated ability to attract research funding from external funding sources
  • experience in leadership roles in clinical child psychology and partner and stakeholder engagement
  • ability to contribute to specialized teaching in clinical child psychology
  • ability to contribute to governance leadership and engagement in the School, Faculty, and University.
