New England Respiratory Care is a private respiratory service based in Tamworth, NSW. It serves a large geographical area and the aim of establishing this laboratory is to provide a wide range of pulmonary function tests to a wider community. Tamworth is an attractive regional country town to live, only 4 hours away from Sydney which offers affordable housing and activities that suit every age.
Position description
The applicant should be able to operate independently and be able to provide the following tests.
- Conducting spirometry, DLCO, body plethysmography, FeNO, and 6-minute walk testing.
- Perform requested tests and ensure accuracy of measurements.
- Analyse relevant test results and prepare individual scientist's reports.
- Adhere to the American Thoracic Society (ATS) /ERS technical standards.
- Staying up to date on advances in respiratory science and updating documentation accordingly.
- Ensuring routine quality control testing is conducted to maintain high quality data output.
- Be able to troubleshoot software issues, liaise with MGC diagnostics and other parties involved in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication skills and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Undertake clerical duties associated with the operation of the laboratory.
Key Selection Criteria
- A qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in science or a related field.
- Competency in a Microsoft Windows based computer environment including Microsoft Office skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work autonomously

Previous hands-on experience conducting lung function tests on patients.
