About QTFN: Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) is an independent, not-for-profit, public Trust with the purpose of protecting and enhancing nature in Queensland. We achieve this by operating a Revolving Property Fund - we acquire, protect, and sell land to increase the private protected area estate in Queensland. We also use environmental markets (biodiversity and carbon offsets, nature positive projects) and partnerships to fund restoration works focused on habitat enhancement, biodiversity uplift, and landscape management.

In addition to conservation efforts, QTFN supports education, research, and partnerships to improve the balance between environmental, social, economic, and cultural needs of Queensland's natural assets.

About the role: The primary purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of the Offsets with Outcomes portfolio within QTFN. You will also play a crucial role in advancing QTFN's mission of protecting and enhancing nature in Queensland through partnerships on private or state-owned land.

This senior appointment is based in the Brisbane office with field work as required. This versatile role will contribute to the mentoring and development of the team, fostering a positive and forward-thinking culture, meeting business and client needs, and managing workloads on time and on budget.

Key Responsibilities include:

Conservation and Restoration Planning, Implementation and Monitoring:

• Develop and implement management strategies and restoration programs for the Offsets with Outcomes Portfolio.
• Design and implement monitoring programs including data analysis and reporting.
• Coordinate and lead fieldwork for ecological assessments, including flora and fauna surveys, rehabilitation, and vegetation mapping.

Project Management:

• Prepare proposals, develop and manage workplans and budgets and prepare documentation to meet reporting requirements.
• Manage contactors and other stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement and Negotiation:

• negotiate with proponents and regulators for the delivery of existing plans and the development and negotiation of new opportunities.
• Support communication activities to raise awareness and engage the community in conservation efforts.
• Support and mentor staff, contractors, and volunteers.

Experience and Qualifications:

Mandatory:

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in ecological land restoration, environmental planning, conservation planning and/or related roles.
• Restoration and sustainable land management expertise including the identification and control of pest and weed species.
• Ecosystem and threatened species monitoring experience.
• Comprehensive ArcGIS skills, field-based survey, and data analysis.
• Current manual driver's license (C Class).
• Eligibility to work in Australia.

Preferred:

• Postgraduate degree in ecology, conservation biology, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of the Australian and Queensland Governments' environmental policies and environmental legislation.
• Certification in 4WD driving, vehicle recovery, rural and remote first aid and CPR, and blue-card.
