About this role
The Technical Risk team applies Process Safety knowledge and experience in the built environment. The primary focus of the Senior Technical Risk Consultant is to provide specialist risk and safety skills and knowledge across a diverse range of projects for a variety of clients in Australia and globally. The role requires a person with a broad knowledge of Process Safety principles and the ability to apply that knowledge across the built environment, Process Safety and energy transition contexts. Other key areas of knowledge include dangerous goods storage and handling requirements, state and federal laws, regulations and codes of practice and quantitative risk assessment.
What will I do?
- The role involves project managing a range of risk projects, including the dangerous goods scope of multi-disciplinary Arup buildings projects, risk assessments for planning/approvals processes and quantitative risk assessments, with responsibility for client interactions, financial control, quality assurance and team members.
- The role requires actively interacting with clients to understand their issues and developing proposals to assist them.
- Quality of project delivery is a key responsibility, including reviewing and approving work completed by other team members.
- A good understanding of the different services offered by Arup is important to bring in correct specialists into client discussions, and to identify and develop business opportunities for RSR and other Arup disciplines.
- The role may involve travel to other states or internationally, and will require working without supervision, meeting deadlines, monitoring budgets, controlling expenditure and representing Arup at internal and external events.
What will I bring?
- Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering (chemical or otherwise) or similar area;
- Relevant industry experience in Process Safety, quantitative risk assessment or similar fields;
- Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership;
- Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines - and Arup's related procedures including OH&S
- Experience in the effective technical supervision and development of less-experienced team members;
