Business Unit Objectives:
We are offering an opportunity for a suitably qualified Senior Scientist to work with colleagues of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Programs (RCPAQAP) in our Blood Disciplines Group (which covers Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Transfusion, Immunology and Serology).
Position Objectives include:
Planning, preparation, and dispatch of proficiency testing materials; survey report review; and customer technical support. Mentoring of scientific staff is also a key objective for our Senior Scientists.
The ideal candidate for this role will have recent Immunology experience in a Clinical Pathology Laboratory
Location
The position is located in St Leonards, Sydney and the office is within walking distance of the train station and the Pacific Highway.

Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate medical science degree with recent work experience in a clinical laboratory of more than 2 years duration.
- Recent experience in a clinical immunology laboratory offering routine and specialised testing.
- Willingness to handle survey material according to company standard operating procedures and WHS guidelines.
- Proven interest in development/improvement of diagnostic laboratory testing and procedures.
- Proven record of attention to detail with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
- Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate or advanced experience in Microsoft office software, particularly MS Word, MS Excel.
- Proven ability to mentor staff, and lead by example.
- Demonstrated planning and project management capabilities.
- High level technical and report writing skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practice of EEO, Ethical Conduct, diversity and WHS.
Desirable
- Possession of, or progress towards an appropriate/relevant post-graduate qualification
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory quality systems, NATA accreditation (ISO15189, ISO 17043 and/or ISO 9001) and general quality management principles.
- Experience in statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems
- Demonstrated experience with communicating science to their peers.
- Significant understanding of the scientific community and active engagement with relevant associations (membership and committee activities).
