The Role
Our fabulous Sustainability and Climate Resilience Team is growing with a wide range of interesting projects and sustainable design. We are a large multidisciplinary company with iconic projects across renewables, environmental studies, dam & hydropower, solar power projects, energy transition and in-land rail.
We are seeking a Senior Sustainability Scientist with a background in sustainability rating tools and climate change (6+ years) with experience gained across infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Facilitation of the Infrastructure Sustainability Rating Scheme from concept design to operations
- Preparation of technical documentation including proposals and reports
- Facilitating the implementation of sustainability and climate change into project and asset management systems to achieve positive outcomes across governance, environmental, social and economic sustainability aspects
- Assisting with the implementation of the SMEC sustainability, climate change and resilience strategy, including emerging operations and services net positive commitments
- Develop new and innovative approaches to better manage and mitigate climate impacts on projects
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients and key stakeholders
Suitable applicants will have/be:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental and Climate Science, Engineering or related
- 6+ years’ experience within a similar role
- Experience working with sustainability or climate change risk assessments within the construction industry
- Experience across infrastructure sustainability ratings
- Excellent reporting and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment with well-developed interpersonal skills
