Senior Signalling Engineer

The Senior Signalling Engineer is tasked with overseeing and managing the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of Signalling Systems for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest rail project, ensuring adherence to project performance requirements. The following responsibilities of this position are: 

• Review design, installation and testing and commissioning submissions and safety case
• Manage hazard control transfer requests from other disciplines and accept the transfer if proposed controls can be addressed by meeting the specific requirements. Coordinate with contractors if proposed controls are related to contractor’s detailed design
• Coordinate with other disciplines and relevant government statutory bodies for the design and design standard establishment.
• Prepare design reports and interface requirements
• Prepare papers on design issues/problems, analyse and evaluate options to provide recommendations to senior management for consideration and endorsement
• Provide engineering support as well as design audit / review to construction management teams on all design issues related to the Signalling system
• Witness tests carried out
• Review test reports submitted by contractors and prepare reports for submission
• Support integrated tests as required
• Assist in identifying and managing project risks

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

• Knowledge in signalling principles and principles of automatic train control
• Understand design and operation principles of signalling equipment / sub-systems
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Organised and able to meet deadlines
• 10 years previous experiences in design, installation, commissioning or testing on a railway communication based signalling project.
