In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Heavy Industry projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet and rail locomotives.
Based out our new Redcliffe and Hazelmere R&D facilities and reporting to the Heavy Industry Principal Embedded Systems, we are presently looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Responsible for overall control systems Software Architecture for the Infinity Train Project.
- Liaise with and manage internal and external multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Apply a systems engineering approach, develop software requirements, functional flow block diagrams, use cases, and specifications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Coordinate and collaborate with multiple software development teams to achieve the architecture.
- Identify and resolve difficult technical issues.
- Communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Computer Science, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering degree or related field
- 7+ years experience in software for embedded control systems.
- Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers and peripherals is required
- Experience with product development or systems engineering in Rail industry is highly advantageous
- Experience with model-based software development such as MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous
- Broad experience in networking and communication technologies and protocols (CAN, TCP, UDP, DDS, SafeDDS) is advantageous
- Experience developing redundant distributed control systems is highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams.
- Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn fast and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program requirements.
