Job title: Senior Software Engineer (Lead)

Salary: $150,000-180,000 per annum, plus superannuation and employee share option plan participation
Location: Hybrid, remote and Adelaide-based location (must be in Australia)
OptiGrid is an early-stage company in the energy industry, developing breakthrough technology to improve battery economics and enable the clean energy transition.
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building a scalable, market-ready product from the ground up, transforming our algorithms and methodologies into practical solutions in the clean energy sector. In this crucial role, you'll take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC).
What the job involves:
- Lead the company’s software development, collaborating with power systems engineers, data scientists, and business development personnel to achieve product milestones.
- Oversee the complete SDLC, from initial concept through deployment, while ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Design and maintain a high-performance, reliable software architecture that can meet the demands of our solutions.
- Assist with operations and procurement in the technical team to ensure software projects stay on track.
- Develop and implement secure coding practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of our software and data.
- Proactively contribute to refining and executing the company’s technology development plans.
Who you are:
- A minimum of 7 years of software development experience, including work with Python.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate external systems and manage complex data flows for real-time processing. Proficiency with APIs and a good understanding of data management best practices are essential.
- Proven experience implementing best practices in DevOps, with expertise in cloud services (AWS preferred), containerisation technologies (like Docker), and CI/CD pipeline management.
- An open and honest approach to technical and interpersonal challenges.
- Willing and able to collaborate freely with others across various disciplines.
- Must be located in Australia with full-time work rights.
Desirable but not necessary:
- Experience with Python numerical libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Experience in the energy industry.
- Experience in high-performance, real-time data processing projects.
- Familiarity with time series-oriented data.
- Familiarity with machine learning and mathematical optimisation techniques.
