Our client, a large Government Department, is looking for a Senior Specialist ICT Advisor to join their digital transformation journey. The contract on offer is for 12 months with an extension of a further 12 months. You will work directly to the Chief Digital Officer, working closely with executives and other senior stakeholders across the client to identify strategic priorities, analyse and shape current challenges into executable opportunities which ensures the stakeholder is best positioned to take advantage of advancements in technology and data to make life better for the businesses that employ them.
In this role you will perform the following tasks:
- Undertake an environmental, capability and maturity scan across the the client and deliver a report that provides an overview regarding government maturity, with recommendations of key areas to address and their relative priority for investment.
- Provide strategic and technical guidance, oversight and reviews on technology direction across a wide range of technologies, investment prioritisation and capabilities, as well as complex technology initiatives, ensuring that they are designed, developed and implemented in alignment to our future direction and best practice principles to create value for the community and government.
- Lead the analysis of business and operating models, market trends and the technology industry to determine their potential impact on the client's business strategy, direction and architecture.
- Develop a technology roadmap that outlines adoption of key digital technologies, platforms and capabilities to enhance operational efficiency, reduce risk and deliver exceptional customer experiences for the Canberra community.

- Exceptional leadership skills, high levels of integrity and ability to build trusted relationships. Motivate teams, align on goals and influence senior executive stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This includes the ability to craft strategic documents and artefacts for executive and ministerial audiences to inform and influence material decisions.
- Extensive contemporary knowledge of current and emerging technologies, trends, and their potential application and impact across government and on the community. This includes the development and implementation of new operating models, digital and technology roadmaps, capability plans and investment strategies.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align government priorities and strategies with investment opportunities.
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse and unravel complex business and technology problems and provide viable options, innovative solutions and visibility into execution issues.
- Extensive senior experience across federal, state/local government as well as private enterprise.
- Self-management, demonstrating the ability to deliver agreed outcomes by taking initiative, managing resources, identifying interdependencies, and setting clear direction and guidance.
- Adaptability in changing circumstances through managing multiple priorities and demands and demonstrating resilience in a constantly changing environment whilst adhering to timeframes and deadlines.
- Inspire vision, focus strategically and harness information and opportunities to develop, articulate and translate into clear priorities, using wisdom and judgement.
