Job description

This position is responsible for designing highly complex modules, critical components or a whole application/product in its entirety. Has the vision to integrate it across multiple systems. This position works independently and is seen as a technical leader. The position is responsible for driving the design and development efforts related to architecture, scalability, availability and performance in alignment with the product/application roadmap.

Roles and Responsibilities 

In this role, you will: 
• Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development and infrastructure
• Provide guidance to developers with either planning and execution and/or design architecture using agile methodologies such as SCRUM
• Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements & vision
• Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
• Capture system level requirements by brainstorming with customers, Sr. Architects, Businesses, Product Owners & Product Managers
• Leads impact assessment and decision related to technology choices, design /architectural considerations and implementation strategy.
• Subject matter expert in processes and methodologies with ability to adapt and improvise in various situations. Expert in navigating through ambiguity and prioritizing conflicting asks.
• Expert level skills in design, architecture and development.
• Leads the architecture, design, and development efforts across the product / multiple product versions and is an expert in architecting custom solutions off the base product.
• Expert in core data structures as well as algorithms and has the ability to implement them.


 

Education Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum years of experience 8years, or 10 years of relative experience

Desired Characteristics Technical Expertise


• Leads a software engineering team responsible for the estimation, planning, architecture, design, development, testing, delivery, and support of a complex .NET UI application.
• Knowledgeable about developments in UX in various contexts, businesses, and industries. Quantifies effectiveness of design choices by gathering data. Proposes design solutions based on research and synthesis, including security and performance considerations; creates general design principles that capture the vision and critical concerns for a program.
• Demonstrates experience with working in Agile teams. Actively embraces new methods and practices that increase efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Mastery of C#.NET WPF programming for development and automated tests.
  • Mastery of CI/CD development.  Experience with git, Jenkins, msbuild and testing frameworks such as Nunit highly desired. Packaging/delivery with Windows Installer XML toolset (WiX) highly desired.
  • Experience with SQL (Oracle, SQL Server) highly desired
  • Experience with application security (WCF, TLS, SSH, HTTPS) highly desired
  • Evaluate and integrate third party and/or open source software
  • Knowledge of graph principles for visually representing common electrical substation configurations in a logical fashion.
  • Ability to manage VM-based development and testing environments on Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of networking modeling for electric grid especially and nice to have knowledge of Eterra source modeling product.

As a federal government contractor, GE may in the future be required to have U.S. employees fully vaccinated against COVID-19.  Some GE customers currently have vaccination mandates that may apply to GE employees.
