Job Description:

Saab is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Staff Radar Integration and Test Engineer to join our team in development of complex radar systems. The successful candidate will participate in Integration and Test activities in support of radar development for airborne radar solutions.  This position will require a 6-month international assignment in Gothenburg, Sweden followed by a 6-month domestic assignment in San Diego, CA.

Specific Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Assembly, installation, integration, and Testing of airborne radar

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of system level requirements for assigned systems and the design features that satisfy these requirements.

  • Developing Integration and verification strategies for subsystems and systems.

  • Identify, procure, and validate test environments & tools as necessary.

  • Develop integration & verification plans and procedures and conduct verification activities in accordance with these procedures.

  • Utilize automated test methodologies to design and implement test automation framework and automated tests, working with software engineers during process.

  • Write verification analysis reports documenting the results of verification activities.

  • Demonstrate expertise in troubleshooting, problem decomposition, root cause analysis and risk analysis.

  • Investigate system anomalies and recommend actions to resolve these anomalies.

  • Work within cross-functional teams that include systems, software, electrical, mechanical, test, and production engineers.

  • Interact with external customers and suppliers as a face of Saab for development and IRAD programs.

  • Collaborate across the functional organizations within Saab in the U.S. and across the global corporation.
     

Compensation Range: $108,000-$137,700

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related discipline is required.

  • 12+ years of related Systems Engineering, Integration and Test experience in a technical/engineering environment.

  • Experience with leading assembly, Integration and Test of complex radar systems, preferably in airborne domain.

  • Demonstrated expertise in any of the following domains: system concept trade studies, operational analysis, feasibility analysis, system performance measures of effectiveness analysis.

  • Understanding of integration of radar hardware and software

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build effective working relationships in team environment.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, able to effectively communicate to senior leadership, customers, and academic communities.

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Hold or be able to obtain U.S. DoD SECRET security clearance.


Desired:

  • Master’s in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related discipline is required

  • Recognized as the prime technical contact on a project that had demonstrated customer engagement experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop advanced technical ideas and see them through development of a product.

  • Expertise working with LabView and MatLab.

  • Significant technical contribution in RF

  • Experience with digital receiver architecture and digital signal processing techniques. 

  • Familiarity with open architectures (e.g. Modular Open System Architecture).

  • Experience with EM/RF design software (ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS , CST, Genesys).

  • Understanding of Cost Accounting and Earned Value
