About us:
The Cancer Care Service has one full time Clinical Haematologist, 2.5 full time Medical Oncologists and is supported by two Registrars and two Resident Medical Officers. Palliative Care Service is supported by a 0.5 FTE specialist. Junior doctors allocated to the unit are shared between the Haematology/Medical Oncology and Palliative care teams. Visiting Haematologists from Royal Brisbane Hospital visit every fortnight to cover transplant follow-up patients. Cancer Care Service is primarily based at Rockhampton Hospital with an inpatient unit shared by Clinical Haematology, Oncology and Palliative Care, a Day Therapy Unit, Outpatient clinics and Radiation Oncology Service. Visiting Haematology clinics at Gladstone Hospital are done on a weekly basis alternating between face to face clinics (once a month for each haematologist), and telehealth clinics. There are close multi-disciplinary links with Brisbane Haematologists via a weekly video-linked lymphoma MDT meeting.
About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the recently expanded Cancer Care Services in Central Queensland. We are seeking to appoint a second full time Staff Specialist - Clinical Haematology for this expanded service. The Staff Specialist will cover adult patients with malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders in outpatient clinics, day therapy unit and inpatients.
About you:
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Mandatory qualification/s: MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist Physician - Clinical Haematology with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the Speciality of Clinical Haematology is preferred.
- If candidates also wish to work in the field of Laboratory Haematology then qualifications and registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Laboratory Haematology (FRCPA) with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA).
Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $514,421 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary between $204,206 - $258,910 p.a.
