RequirementsSolid experience in water engineering including experience in floodplain management, undertaking Flood Studies and Flood Risk Management Studies and Plans according to NSW Flood Policy. Experience with review of flood models, reading and analysing TUFLOW results, review flood assessment reports including Water Cycle Management Flood Models and reports prepared for large planning proposals at precinct level, use of WaterRIDE fluently and working knowledge / practical knowledge of QGIS (read TUFLOW results), assess / review hydrology models and reports etc are day to day work in the section. Floodplain Management experience is important.
Responsibilities Undertake short term floodplain management projects, Investigation and Design project related to Flood Warning, from preparing technical brief to completion of the project, Another short duration floodplain management project. Helping floodplain management team in other core activities as required (providing flood info to internal and external customers, review of Flood Impact and Risk Assessment reports for development applications and planning proposals and flood mapping improvements) Background information / Compatibility requirements
Opportunity to deal with greenfield development through floodplain management in a fast-developing LGA, managing cumulative impact of development on flooding holistically
Dealing with flood warning systems for highly flood vulnerable catchments, using current technology and working with stakeholders with an opportunity for innovative approaches
Use current smart technology for presenting flood data to public
