Job description:
An exciting opportunity exists to join our SEQ Structures Assets Engineering team as a Senior Structures Maintenance Engineer on a fulltime permanent basis.
Based in our Brisbane CBD office, you will manage the delivery of 'whole of life' asset management solutions for railway structures which include a variety of bridges, culverts and tunnels.
Reporting to the Team Leader Structures Assets Engineering, you will assist and provide expert guidance in:
- The prioritisation of defects;
- The development of short and long term planning for defect rectification;
- The development of plans for the prioritisation of structure replacements in SEQ.
This is a 50/50 office/field role in which you will engage with a variety of stakeholders to provide technical structural engineering advice in relation to defects through site visits and complete field inspections with Structures Inspectors. You will also attend site for bridge strike incidents.
Additionally, you will:
- Strategize asset maintenance / replacement
- Develop and regularly review Asset Management Plans for structures in SEQ
- Review and update old drawings
- Attend Safety in Design and project meetings
- Engage and manage consultants and contractors
- Contribute to an environment that encourages the development of new ideas and innovation to improve productivity and drive efficiency.

Your leadership skills will be highly valued as you will at times have Graduate and student engineers report to you.
We are looking for someone who can engage and develop respect with a diverse range of stakeholders and someone who is up to the challenge of working with aging assets.
Advanced asset management, structural design and construction experience with rail, road and foot bridges, tunnels and culverts is needed, along with Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
Starting salary: $132, 956 plus penalty rates and superannuation. Queensland Rail also offer free rail travel to and from work.
