Energy Queensland have a permanent opportunity for a Senior Substation Design Engineer located in Brisbane (Newstead) and sits within our Operations team.
About your new role:
As the successful candidate your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Providing professional engineering advice on HV substation engineering, undertaking and leading complex engineering analysis, review and approve complex engineering reports and technical documentation in accordance with the requirements of the Professional Engineers Act.
- Delivering engineering activities through the planning, scheduling and allocation of design and engineering resources.
- Conducting and completing comprehensive investigations, engineering analysis, and engineering designs. • Providing technical direction for a variety of HV substation projects.
- Developing the capability of team members through the provision of supervision, coaching, mentoring, and identifying development requirements and opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category.
- Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ)
The remuneration for your new role is from $186,169 - $204,998 plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.

As a Senior Substation Design Engineer, you possess expert knowledge of engineering calculations and analysis techniques in relation to the design of HV substations and related assets. You have the technical skills and the knowledge and ability to lead a professional design team in delivering a program of major projects.
Your experience includes:
- Demonstrated ability in problem solving and an expert knowledge of engineering calculations in relation to the design of HV substations and related assets.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Codes of Practice, legislation, and standards relevant to the electrical industry, with an emphasis on leadership of employees to ensure projects meet health, safety, and environment requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise, influence and negotiate with different levels of the organisation to gain improvements in project and program delivery.
