Land Use Victoria and Planning & Land Services more broadly provides authoritative, comprehensive and easily accessible services in land administration, property information and facilitating the better use of government owned land. It provides a range of statutory and non-statutory functions including surveying services to support the major transport infrastructure projects and the broader DTP.

About the Role

This role will be responsible for the provision of a broad range of survey services (including feature, cadastral and monitoring) to the transport portfolio and whole of Government under limited supervision and in adherence with DTP standards and guidelines, compliance with legislation, internal specifications and safe work practices in the field employing a combination of internal and external resources. The role requires a sound knowledge of Victoria's cadastral system and capability with CAD software packages to support the delivery of drafting services to support the Government prepare various plan types in both Crown and freehold domains relating to government land dealings particularly in support of major transport infrastructure projects and day-to-day transport functions.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

This role involves exercising independent judgment in assessing and managing survey activities both in the field and office. It includes providing high-level advice to stakeholders and leading survey operations on complex cadastral and engineering issues. You will develop quotes and briefs for contractors, monitor their work, and ensure it meets standards, timeframe, and budget. Project management, planning, and conducting surveys using appropriate technology and resources are key aspects. You will negotiate with clients and contractors on complex issues to achieve successful outcomes. Additionally, you'll prepare complex plans and reports for various transport purposes using survey information, imagery, design data, and GIS information under limited supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

Desirable

  • Tertiary Qualification in Geomatics or a related discipline (Surveying, GSIS etc) along with 4 years experience in that field is desirable.
  • Understand and uses a wide range of software applications with a focus on computer aided drafting with familiarity of ‘MicroStation'.
  • Ability to travel, work and stay overnight across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria outside normal working hours as reasonably required.
