About the Role:

We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Survey Officer to join our Design team based our Glen Waverley office in a full time and permanent capacity.

The role will be responsible for the provision of survey and design related services to assist in the delivery of overhead and underground distribution and optic fibre designs for internal and external United Energy clients.

In addition, as part of a broader Design team, this role is responsible for the delivery of timely, cost effective and quality design and related services through innovation, good design practice and a professional attitude towards delivering excellent customer service.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in the electricity distribution industry with excellent communication skills. In addition, this candidate will have a 'can do' attitude, driven to meet customer's objectives and delivering exceptional project outcomes.

What you'll deliver:

  • Undertake Distribution OH survey activities up to 66KV to agreed timeframes, nominated design specifications, and in accordance with the relevant technical manuals, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines and customer requirements
  • Provide effective specialist engineering design and advice in relation to the design of overhead and underground distribution network
  • Review and verify designs produced by others, in accordance with agreed standards
  • Assist with the development of design standards & policy in accordance with organisational, regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Develop and implement new and innovative design practices and ways to meet business needs by applying technical expertise and experience.

To succeed in this role you'll have:

  • A Certificate of Technology (Survey) in ESI Power Systems/ Cert IV/ Diploma in Survey or equivalent Tertiary based qualification
  • Extensive design and survey experience in the electrical utility industry
  • Detailed knowledge of principles and concepts associated with surveying for distribution and optic fibre projects
  • Proven design capabilities complying with network owners Design and Construction Standards, Applicable Australian Standards and Regulatory requirements
  • Detailed knowledge & understanding of regulatory requirements, OH&S Act, 'Safety in Design' guidelines, standards and codes
  • AutoCAD and NPoles knowledge
  • 3D modelling software e.g. NEARA preferred
  • Previous experience mentoring and training other engineers.
