About the Role
Kensington Town Hall and Meat Market are seeking a dynamic and pivotal Senior Technician to oversee event delivery and operational management across both venues. Under the guidance of the Meat Market management team, this role ensures the efficient, safe, and effective use of the venues, adhering to specific operational standards and lease terms. As the central point of contact for technicians, hirers, and building contractors, the Senior Technician plays a key role in facilitating smooth event execution and optimal venue operations, delivering a consistent and high-quality experience for all stakeholders.
Joining at this exciting startup phase of a new focus on the arts, you will have a unique opportunity to help guide and shape the future of Kensington Town Hall.
This position requires flexibility, as the incumbent will be rostered according to the varying needs of both venues, including some weekend work and the ability to handle early starts or after-hours calls based on event schedules. The Senior Technician supports the Technical and Operations Manager in providing comprehensive technical production services and event planning. Balancing regular office hours with the diverse timing needs of events, this role embodies adaptability and a commitment to excellence in arts venue management, ensuring Kensington Town Hall and Meat Market remain premier cultural destinations.

What you will bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in planning, organising, and delivering events, including managing logistics, coordinating teams, and handling event-specific challenges.
- Proven ability to supervise teams, including casual staff, ensuring efficient event delivery and adherence to safety protocols.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities coupled with effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience in assessing and managing risks associated with events, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and performing duties like Chief Fire Warden as needed.
- Knowledge of technical aspects related to events, such as audio/visual systems, which is preferable but not essential.
- Competence with Microsoft office suite. Familiarity with Deputy and Qlab software preferred but not essential.
