Our client is seeking an experiencedSenior Telecommunications Engineer to work within their facilities located in Perth, Australia.
The Company
Our client is an ASX listed Energy company based in the CBD. As a result of ongoing technology upgrades they are looking for an experienced individual to join their business on a contract to work in an operational technology focused role.
The Role
This position oversees the engineering, design and deliverables of the OT Network systems for the current projects.
Ideal candidates should have relevant experience in Networking systems, infrastructure design (Fibre network reticulation and associated infrastructure) with core knowledge of networking, wireless, MPLS fundamentals, fibre optic transmission systems, networking and general telecommunications exposure in the resource project environment. Experience in Operational Technology (OT) and Process Control Network (PCN) will be vital for this position.
Responsibilities
- Managing the design, development, implementation and commissioning of high-quality OT solutions that meet or exceed our customers' requirements.
- Develop network design for site integration of PLCs, SCADA, and other operations smart instruments/devices.
- Prepare Network Specifications for clients and review Client Network requirements/Specifications and operational requirements and provide network solutions that meet client specifications and operating requirements.
- Develop Network Diagrams to communicate Network Design and develop Bill of Materials.
- Prepare Scope of Works for Installation works.
- Recommend Hardware solutions for Design requirements and Program, document, test, and commission network hardware.
- Support and manage IP addressing.
- Participating in design reviews in a collaborative team environment and provide technical assessment and guidance to the communication and control systems design team.
- Provide technical assessment and guidance to Project team and assist with managing the construction tasks for communications activities.
- Ensure that the requirements of system engineering, safety, competency and quality assurance are being achieved for Communications scope.
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations with statistical data related to the status of the Project in a timely basis, as requested.
- Liaise with the sub-contractors for communications scope.
- Provide technical assessment and presentations to support claims, variations, or any other dispute and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all Australian health and safety, quality and environmental legislative requirements.
- Providing technical assistance to the presales team in new tenders/ contract negotiation (RFP/RFQ).
- Compiling engineering project proposals to define goals, identifies scope, background and need, and ascertains cost of the project.
- Mentoring and developing members of the OT team.
Requirements
You will be an experienced engineer, ideally with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field with 7 years of relevant experience in the energy industry.
It is expected that you can demonstrate significant experience working in an operational technology role with high level expertise working with Process Control Networks (PCN) in and Oil & Gas or resources sector company. Additionally, these experiences below will be vital:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Communications or Electronics.
- Extensive and proven experience as engineer for network design, implementation and optimization at complex projects in the field of operational network engineering.
- Experience in the design and implementation of wireless and fixed Communications systems.
- OT virtualisation solutions (VMware, VSphere) and OT compliant services such as (Secure Proxies, PKI, Radius, Secure File Transfer, etc).
- OT monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Valid CCNA certification.
- Design and configuration of OT networks using industrial switches (Cisco, Hirschmann, Moxa, Siemens, etc.).
- Understanding of network resilience for OT networks this includes PLCs, SCADA, and field Instruments and also understanding of OT protocol traffic management.
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Visio.
