Your TeamHollard Commercial Insurance (HCi) is Hollard's wholly owned commercial insurance business. We specialise in business insurance products designed to protect everyday risks for Small to Medium Australian businesses via insurance intermediaries.
Hollard Commercial Insurance (HCi) aims to be the market’s preferred insurer for commercial business. You will be working with a team of highly driven and enthusiastic individuals who do not take themselves too seriously but do take what they do very seriously.

Your RoleIn this position, you will report to the Commercial Underwriting Manager and you will be a key member of the Operations team.
You will be responsible for contributing to and delivering on a number of Hollard’s operational and strategic objectives
Your duties & responsibilities- Underwriting a portfolio of SME business across Property, Business Interruption, Liability, Theft, Glass, Machinery Breakdown, Electronic Equipment etc.
- Underwrite and price new business and renewals that are outside of auto rated terms
- Assisting in developing, leading and supporting underwriting staff to achieve growth through effective implementation of management strategies.
- Recommending and implementing process, underwriting and pricing improvements across the business including review of loss ratios and portfolios
- Keeping abreast of the broader insurance industry to identify market movements and changes
- Ensuring a high quality of service and work is offered to both internal and external parties
- Participating in an energetic, entrepreneurial and innovative team that is developing into a significant player in the Australian insurance market.
- Work in a flexible work environment, attend regular office anchor days and be available from time to time for broker visits, conferences and other meetings.
- Good understanding of relationship management skills, underwriting principles, insurance legislation and current market trends
- Strong experience and understanding of the insurance broker market
- In-depth knowledge of the major risks within the SME / Commercial markets
- At least 3 years of senior underwriting experience or equivalent experience (Commercial preferred) and ideally experience with intermediated channels
- Industry related qualifications (e.g. ANZIIF) is desirable
- Certificate IV in General Insurance or equivalent is desirable
