Organisational Safety and Wellbeing are seeking an experienced Senior Wellbeing Consultant to develop, promote, coordinate and evaluate a range of staff mental health and wellbeing programs and initiatives as part of a wellbeing team. Creating safe and healthy schools and workplaces doesn't just happen. When everyone comes together to improve staff health, safety and wellbeing, there is commitment and active involvement of every person within the department. This position is offered on a full-time basis until 21 June 2024, unless otherwise determined.

Organisational Safety and Wellbeing (OSW) provides the health, safety and wellbeing framework for the Department of Education (the department). As part of OSW, the Staff Wellbeing team are responsible for the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the departments staff wellbeing framework and implementation of associated strategies, projects and programs such as the Staff Mental Health Action Plan and the Employee Assistance Program.
Your role:

• Our Senior Wellbeing Consultant is based in our Brisbane corporate office and works within our Staff Wellbeing team.
• Key duties of this role include supporting the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the department's staff wellbeing framework; supporting the coordination of the employee assistance program and promotion of staff wellbeing initatives across the state.
• The role will support mental health, psychological safety, staff health and wellbeing initiatives, therefore relevant qualifications and/or previous experience in psycholocial health or health and wellbeing will be well regarded.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide support and advice to the Director and Manager and other managers of the department on all issues pertaining to staff health and wellbeing.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a range of strategies, initiatives and projects to improve the health and wellbeing of staff; and to the review of the effectiveness of health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Deliver engaging wellbeing presentations and workshops at conferences and forums to assist in developing staff capability
• Establish networks and liaise with officers from other agencies and organisations to promote and monitor contemporary health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Prepare briefing material and reports for the Manager, Wellbeing and other senior departmental officers on substantial human resource management issues that relate to the health and wellbeing of staff; and represent the department in a variety of forums on issues relating to departmental health and wellbeing activities and initiatives

Our ideal candidate would possess these qualities:

• Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Experience working with corporate and schools based clients in promoting health and wellbeing, particularly mental health and wellbeing
• Experience in development and delivering engaging wellbeing presentations and workshops to assist with development of staff capability
• Networking skills within and outside the organisation to promote and monitor contemporary health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Experience preparing briefing materials and reports for the Manager Staff Wellbeing and other senior departmental officers on issues that relate to staff health and wellbeing
