The Opportunity:
As part of our growth Talis is seeking a Senior/Principal level Waste Engineer to join us on a permanent full-time basis in Brisbane. This position will lead our Waste Engineering Service offering on the East Coast of Australia.
The position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Technical input on landfill design projects including:
- Basal lining systems;
- Leachate, gas and surface water management systems;
- Closure and capping system;
- Capacity modelling and phasing plans;
- Technical input on Waste Transfer Station and Recycling Facilities design projects, including:
- Civil Designs;
- Structures;
- Drainage systems;
- Traffic management systems;
- Feasibility assessments and financial modelling;
- Approvals input and guidance;
- Coordination of necessary field investigations including site inspections and geotechnical investigations, interpretation of data and stability risk assessments;
- Preparation of design documentation including specifications, bills of quantities, designers risks assessment and construction quality assurance plans;
- Tendering of construction works (including local government procurement process);
- Evaluation and contract administration;
- Construction quality assurance and superintendent work.
- Assist in identifying and securing business development opportunities.
Position Requirements:
- Civil / Environmental / Geotechnical Engineering degree or similar;
- 5 + years’ experience on waste management infrastructure or similar design projects;
- Construction quality assurance and superintendent experience for landfills or similar facilities;
- Technical involvement in earthworks, roads, drainage and other public works projects;
- Experience leading Modellers/Drafters in design works;
- Experience in project management and managing staff;
- Experience in hydrogeological and geotechnical investigations is preferable;
- Excellent reporting and communication skills;
- Strong AutoCAD appreciation and similar packages;
- Full Australian working rights.
