Primary Location
The Service Crew is responsible for providing safe and efficient maintenance delivery through the completion of civil maintenance activities including routine and periodic maintenance, incident response and defect rectification as directed.
Nature of position: Casual, Part Time
Location: Frankston South, VIC
Reporting Line: Maintenance Supervisor
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake civil maintenance activities to the highest standard of safety and quality in accordance with standards, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and company procedures.
- Take direction from the Civil Maintenance Supervisor/Leading Hand in the delivery of civil maintenance activities and provide support to ensure all activities are undertaken safely and efficiently to meet the contract KPI requirements.
- Use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided to undertake a task, ensure that PPE is maintained in good working order and identify to the Civil Maintenance Supervisor/Leading Hand any deficiencies, areas for improvement, non-compliances.
- Provide input and constructive feedback on safety, performance, and technical requirements for civil maintenance activities to identify areas that can be improved and maintain the highest standard of maintenance delivery.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the maintenance standards, environmental, quality and safety requirements and follow the safe methods of work.
- Provide support, as required, to those carrying out routine and periodic inspections of the asset.
- Proactively identify any hazards and defects and notify as appropriate when out on site.
- Assist in the recording of maintenance data in the Asset Management System through the field based computers (ipads).
- Assist in the management of site security and material/plant deliveries, storage and general housekeeping.
- Use all resources (materials, plant and equipment etc.) in accordance with prescribed procedures and identify immediately to the Civil Maintenance Supervisor/Leading Hand any deficiencies or concerns.
- Check that all plant and equipment is in good working condition, clean, safe and operational before it is used by undertaking daily plant pre-starts.
- Report all incidents immediately to the Control Room Operator and Civil Maintenance Supervisor via phone or text and comply with the company processes for incident management as required.
- Maintenance all fleet, including maintenance and incident response vehicles in a clean, safe working condition an promptly report and defects or safety concerns to the Civil Maintenance Supervisor for action.
- Be part of the development and review of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) including identifying anything that could improve safety or efficiency.
- Participate in toolbox and safety meetings, safety inspections and other site based team activities as required.
- Review and provide input on operational and maintenance procedures as required.
- Ensure all work is completed to required specifications, standards and within required timeframes.
- Liaise with Emergency Services and local authorities as required when dealing with incidents or defects.
- Use the provided PPE for the work activities, in accordance with the SWMS and that it is maintained in sound working condition at all times.
- Be involved in Specific Activity Risk Reviews (SARR) as required and ensure that any actions/outcomes are effectively implemented in conjunction with the Contract Manager and other team resources.
- Be a part of the incident response roster in place with the civil maintenance team that provides cover for incidents in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Respond to traffic incidents, as required including communication with the the Control Room Officer and Duty Manager, in accordance with Incident Management processes.
- Comply with the internal permit process for all civil maintenance activities, including Traffic Management Plans.
- Contribute to and participate in safety, quality, environmental and operational improvement activities.
About you:
Experience required:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience undertaking civil maintenance activities, ideally on a road network.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience operating a traffic management truck
- Experience working on large areas of landscaping.
- Understanding of how civil maintenance tasks are undertaken
Qualifications required:
- Desirable – traffic management qualifications
- Desirable – Heavy vehicle license
- Desirable – Traffic Management vehicle operator license
Competencies required:
- Competencies in plant and equipment used on a civil maintenance contract including small plant.
- Understanding of plant specifies and landscape management requirements.
- Understanding on safe use of chemicals.
