Riverland Fire and Safety are a fire protection and safety training company, that has been serving the region for over 20 years. Operating from Barmera, we extend our services to the Riverland, Murray Mallee, and other regions across South Australia. We offer comprehensive maintenance for fire protection systems, including extinguishers, pumps, sprinklers, and fire safety training.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Service Technician Trainee. You will have the opportunity to study a Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing and learn new skills whilst working in a supportive team environment.
The office is based in Barmera however the successful applicant will be required to service across the Riverland and the Murray Mallee Region. The ideal candidate is someone that can work independently once fully trained and is currently living in the area. However, we encourage applications for people who are relocating into the area to apply.
This is a great opportunity for someone to get into the fire service industry with the willingness to undertake a traineeship. If you enjoy a hands-on role with the ability to build lasting relationships, then this might be the role for you. This position is ideally suited to someone who:

The successful applicant will work closely with another Service Technician during their Traineeship to assist with undertaking the following duties:
- Service the following fire equipment in accordance with relevant standards:
- Fire Extinguishers
- Fire hose reels
- Fire hydrants
- Fire and smoke doors
- Fire sprinkler system
- Fire alarm systems
- Fire and emergency lighting
- Minor repairs
To be considered for this role you will have:
- A valid driver’s license
- Current National Police Clearance within 12 months (or willingness to obtain)
- Necessary clearances to enter secure facilities such as schools, aged care facilities, police stations, banks, etc. We will arrange screenings if not already obtained.
- Current Flu/COVID-19 vaccinations (as required)
- Great communication and relationship building skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills with the ability collaborate with others
- Basic hand tool knowledge is desirable but not essential
