Who are we looking for?

QUT003: Real Action for Real Change is one of the new QUT You offerings designed to provide students with the skills to create a locally driven action plan to engage, educate, and encourage meaningful change from members of the general public or a relevant community.

Teaching will begin on the 22nd of July and run for six weeks + two weeks for marking and assessment. Successful applicants will need to attend a planning meeting held in the week commencing the 8th of July.

We are looking to Sessional Academics who can support the teaching of this large unit. Specifically, we are looking for people with knowledge and passion for change.  No idea is too small – we are asking you to assist our students to become confident in their ability to effect change.

About the School of Public Health and Social Work  Faculty of Health, Academic Division

The School of Public Health and Social Work includes the disciplines of public health; health management; social work and human services; and health, safety and environment.  The school is one of seven schools in the Faculty of Health.

What do you need to succeed?

Successful applicants will have the following: 

Essential
•    Post-graduate qualification in Public Health, Epidemiology or similar.
•    Demonstrate a commitment to undertake (within 12 months), or have completed, one of the following: 
•    ‘Foundations of Learning and Teaching, Effective Communication and Academic Success’ workshops 
•    Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 
•    Post graduate studies in education and training 
•    Demonstrate a willingness to undertake an induction to QUT and complete mandatory on-line training as required for all staff at QUT.

Desirable 
•    Previous teaching experience

•    Please include an indication of your availability (ie. The days that you are available). Note: The unit runs from the 22nd of July to the end of August. It is taught at GP, KG and on-line (Via Zoom).
•    The position will report to the QUT003 unit coordinator.
•    Position will be paid at Sessional Academic Casual Tutoring rates. Salary rates can be found here.
